ADVENT TIP 13 – WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO STICK THEM?

REMOVE THE FRICTION

So, you’ve downloaded your live video, you’ve got your subtitles ready to go, you’ve got a whole heap of great short edits to make the content easier to digest on different platforms…..So where you put your content?

Well, the simple answer is everywhere. You want to build an audience of raving fans, so, get that content out there to find them. It may be a little time consuming uploading to multiple platforms, but, trust me, it’ll be worth it. Build those raving fans wherever you can, and in time, watch them become more and more dedicated to your value content and start to share it with people they know would benefit from it, so your audience will grow and grow.

Beware, when using your caption file on the videos, linkedin WILL NOT let you add captions after you’ve uploaded your video, it has to be done during the upload process, so make sure you’ve got them to hand so you can add them at the same time

ADVENT TIP 12 – READ YOUR VIDEOS

SHOULD I USE SUBTITLES?

Well, the quick answer to this is YES, the longer answer is HELL YES.

So, the reason for this is that most people will scroll through their social media feeds and do this with the volume off on their machines (just in case the boss realised they’re watching videos when they should be working) or as is default with most social media platforms, the sound is muted until the user decides to turn it on.

This is why subtitles, captions, transcription (however you want to call it) are so powerful. There are loads of great sites available to do this for you for a small fee, just be careful on their accuracy, as the cheaper they are the more automated the service and then they’ll be loads of mistakes.

The service I use is www.rev.com they’re excellent at the process, quick and you can use their caption file on your software (adobe audition etc) and across multiple platforms like youtube, vimeo, facebook and linkedin.
