LIVE VIDEO IS AWESOME

So, live video is an amazing tool, but, something a lot of people shy away from as it scares them, they’re worried about looking like a nobhead, uninformed, and worst of all, having no audience to watch.  Can I be honest with you?  Nobody is going to come and watch your fucking content, nobody gives a shit about you, BUT, this will not be forever……..OK, we’ve got that out the way.

PINCH PUNCH, FIRST OF THE MONTH

 

Welcome to February 1st, 2019.  As we all know, February is the month of love, Valentines day is just 14 days away, and it got me thinking about RELATIONSHIPS on social media.

So many people I speak to in businesses or building their own personal brand spend their time thinking things are going to happen quickly with their social media channels.

The age of putting out a single tweet and getting loads of work from that tweet are sadly long gone, most social media channels are hugely cannibalised by people giving little to know value, mostly selling and all shouting at the same volume. So the question is, how do you make sure your message is heard, but most importantly, digested as well.

Social media channels are hugely saturated, and messages on each platform are lasting shorter and shorter amounts of time in peoples feeds :

BLOG – 2 YEARS

PINTEREST – 4 MONTHS

YOUTUBE – 20 DAYS

LINKEDIN – 24 HOURS

INSTAGRAM – 8 HOURS

FACEBOOK – 2 HOURS

TWITTER – 5 MINUTES

Obviously, as a one person business, or small team business it’s not going to be easy to keep up with these timings and making content often enough to stay in peoples feeds, but, if you can start to make this process easier for yourselves then that’s a great way of helping to build those relationships

So, over the month of February, I’ll be giving tips on relationships and how you can build strong raving fans of your content rather than people who see it but don’t consume it as you get lost in the throng.

ADVENT TIP 15 – HOW IMPORTANT IS SEO ON MY VIDEO?

HOW IMPORTANT IS SEO ON A VIDEO?

You’ve uploaded your live video to multiple channels, so, thew question is, how important is getting your description and tagging right? Well, it’s massively important, without this being done right, your content is likely to blend into everything else everyone is putting out.

However, have a bespoke thumbnail with your video title on it, along with an eye catching video title in the first place you’re already onto a winner. Then you need to start thinking about video SEO, this is as important with video content as it is with any other piece of content you’re brand and business is putting out.

So, here are a few simple tips to help you out

1. EYE CATCHING TITLE

2. MAKE SURE YOUR TITLE IS ALSO IN THE FIRST 3 LINES OF YOUR VIDEO DESCRIPTION, THESE ARE THE 3 LINES THAT ARE SEEN WHEN SOMEONE SEES YOUR VIDEO IN SEARCH RESULTS ON YOUTUBE

3. DON’T JUST USE THE TOP 3 LINES BECAUSE THAT’S ALL PEOPLE SEE. MAKE SURE YOU REALLY GIVE A GREAT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR VIDEOS CONTENT, THIS WILL HELP IN THE META TAGS

4. YOU WANT GOOGLE TO RECOGNISE THIS CONTENT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR WEBSITE, SO MAKE SURE YOU PUT LINKS IN THE DESCRIPTION TO ALL YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS AND YOUR WEBSITE.

5. YOU MUST USE HTTP:// AT THE START OF YOUR EXTERNAL LINKS, OTHERWISE YOUTUBE WILL NOT MAKE THEM CLICKABLE FOR YOUR AUDIENCE

6. USE THE METATAGS, AND MAKE SURE YOU’RE USING THINGS LIKE YOUR VIDEO TITLE AND CONTENT FROM YOUR DESCRIPTION AS TAGS, THIS HELPS MAKE SURE YOUTUBE SEES THE CONTENT ALL WORKS TOGETHER AND PUSHES IT UP PEOPLES SEARCHES

ADVENT TIP 13 – WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO STICK THEM?

REMOVE THE FRICTION

So, you’ve downloaded your live video, you’ve got your subtitles ready to go, you’ve got a whole heap of great short edits to make the content easier to digest on different platforms…..So where you put your content?

Well, the simple answer is everywhere. You want to build an audience of raving fans, so, get that content out there to find them. It may be a little time consuming uploading to multiple platforms, but, trust me, it’ll be worth it. Build those raving fans wherever you can, and in time, watch them become more and more dedicated to your value content and start to share it with people they know would benefit from it, so your audience will grow and grow.

Beware, when using your caption file on the videos, linkedin WILL NOT let you add captions after you’ve uploaded your video, it has to be done during the upload process, so make sure you’ve got them to hand so you can add them at the same time

So, this is it, you’re going live….but when?

Sticking to a schedule is massively important. It’s how you can really begin to build a group of raving fans who’ll watch your content on a regular basis. You see, we like schedules, especially when it comes to consuming other peoples content. If we know when something is going to happen, we make time in our day to consume it…..i.e EASTENDERS, BIG BROTHER etc. etc. (more…)

Sometimes we come out with a true moment of inspiration when we’re on social media.  That piece of content that really resonates with our audience, and we want as many people as possible who visit our page, feed, subscriptions etc. to be able to consume that message too, especially if it give a lot of value.
