Welcome to 2019, the start of a brand new year, a chance to start afresh.

It’s also the time for you as a brand, business and personally that you’ll be setting your goals for the coming year. Be it connected to matters of the heart, or new targets, new budgets, finally writing that book you always wanted to release. Well, we can probably all agree how important it is to set goals for the coming year, and hopefully have people around us who’ll keep us accountable to those goals.

However, one thing we find a lot with businesses who speak to us is that they don’t approach their marketing with the same level of planning or importance.

We’ve all had a time where we’ve thought to ourselves “I’ve not posted for a while on twitter” So we stick out a single tweet and expect miracles to happen. Social media does not work with a scattergun approach. You cannot expect people to be able to digest what you’ve got to say in a cannibalised market like social media if you’re not posting on a regular basis. You need to have a schedule for all the platforms you’re using, and you need to be posting to most of them on a daily basis.

When I speak to businesses about “How to 9 x your social media” the simple process I’ve come up with that allows people to create one piece of content and then re-purpose this into many other pieces on a weekly basis, they always fall over at step one. The point they usually try to make is “I don’t know what to write about”. This is because they understand the importance of every piece of content you put out each time needs to be on brand and message, but usually post about one subject matter on instagram and one on twitter and so on and so forth.

This is where planning comes in for any brand and business. Putting together a plan will help you know exactly what content you’re putting out and when, and most importantly, what that content is going to be about. You can tie your content into the value you want to give and events etc. that are happening through the year. This won’t automatically make your content found on the internet, but, will allow you to make it more searchable with the likes of meta tags, SEO ( the way it’s written) and hashtags through your content in different places.

So, before you decide to start putting out some more content on your social platforms, it’s probably time for you to put aside a day or so and create your marketing plan for the next 12 months so you can start creating content that not only gives value, but, the message is always on brand and helps your build a group of raving fans who’ll also share your content with their audience.
